FAW-Volkswagen is set to launch the ID. AURA T6 electric SUV in China on September 20, 2026. Pre-sales for the model started on August 28, with four variants priced between ¥135 900 and ¥169 900.
The five-seat midsize SUV is the first in the AURA lineup and the first Volkswagen electric SUV to feature LiDAR. It is built on the CEA architecture, a joint development between Volkswagen and Xpeng, which utilizes central computing and zonal controllers.
The vehicle is powered by CATL batteries and a single motor producing 170 kW. It offers two CLTC range options of 540 and 660 kilometers. Dimensions include a length of 4 811 mm and a wheelbase of 2 836 mm.
Higher-end variants include 192-channel LiDAR and a system from Carizon, a joint venture with Horizon Robotics. The setup uses the Journey 6H chip with 420 TOPS of power, supporting urban NOA, memory parking, and route-retracing.
The cockpit features a 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and a 25.8-inch AR head-up display. The system runs on a 4-nanometer chip with 20 TOPS of power, enabling on-device large AI model deployment.
Volkswagen plans to introduce 13 new models in China this year, including seven new energy vehicles. FAW-Volkswagen aims to increase the share of new energy vehicles in its total sales to approximately 60 percent by 2030.
