FAW Group, Toyota Motor, and GAC Group signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Guangzhou on October 8. The partnership aims to integrate resources, establish communication mechanisms, and accelerate the transition toward electrification and intelligent vehicle technologies.

The companies plan to utilize capital as a link to collaborate on new energy vehicle development, joint ventures, and supply chain synergy. This model creates a new paradigm of cooperation between central state-owned enterprises, local state-owned enterprises, and international automotive manufacturers.

GAC Group intends to acquire a 50 percent stake in FAW Toyota from FAW through a share issuance. Following the transaction, FAW Toyota will continue to operate as an independent entity, while FAW will become a strategic shareholder in GAC.

The entities will form an alliance between FAW Toyota and GAC Toyota to coordinate research and development, procurement, production, and sales functions. This follows a separate strategic framework agreement signed between FAW Group and GAC Industrial on September 29.
