According to the Citi Wealth 2026 Global Family Office Report, inflation is now the primary concern for 63% of surveyed family offices, compared to 37% in 2025. Conversely, concerns over tariffs dropped significantly, falling from 60% to 18% over the same period.
Despite rising inflation fears, family offices continue to favor public equities. Over the past year, 46% of the 351 surveyed offices in 41 countries increased their exposure to public stocks, while only 12% reduced it. The net increase in equity allocations was 23 percentage points higher than in the 2025 survey.
Looking ahead to the next 12 months, 37% of family offices plan to add equities from developed markets, while only 5% intend to reduce their holdings. This trend mirrors US household data, where equities account for 39.9% of net worth, the highest level recorded by the Federal Reserve.
Digital assets remain less attractive to these investors. Only 3% of family offices plan to increase their digital asset holdings in the coming year, while 14% expect to cut them. Although 46% of respondents reported no significant barriers to entry, 27% cited a lack of internal expertise or governance as the main obstacle.
