EVgo has unveiled a new DC fast charging system designed to deliver up to 750 kW of power. The technology utilizes a power-sharing architecture that dynamically adjusts energy distribution among connected vehicles based on their specific battery requirements and overall system capacity.
The company is currently developing and testing the hardware at its Innovation Lab in El Segundo, California, in collaboration with Delta Electronics. Key features of the new stations include NACS connectors, lightweight cables, and touchless payment systems.
According to EVgo, the system is capable of charging the fastest-charging electric vehicles currently available in the US in approximately 10 minutes. However, the company notes that actual performance will vary based on vehicle specifications, battery temperature, and state of charge.
The rollout of the new charging infrastructure is scheduled for 2027. This timeline represents a delay from the company's previous projection of a second-half 2026 launch, which was announced alongside the partnership with Delta Electronics in 2024.
