The Ethereum Foundation announced that the Glamsterdam upgrade will launch on the Sepolia testnet on Oct. 6. This update merges the Gloas consensus-layer and Amsterdam execution-layer improvements, marking the next phase in the network's L1 scaling roadmap following the Fusaka release.
According to core developer Parithosh Jayanthi, this will be the largest fork since the Merge. The upgrade introduces enshrined proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists to improve efficiency. It also adjusts gas accounting and pricing to better address execution and state-growth costs.
The initiative aims to increase L1 capacity by addressing limits in sequential execution and block production. While the upgrade focuses on technical scaling, the Foundation has not yet set activation dates for the Hoodi testnet or the mainnet deployment.
In the broader market, the price of ETH has increased by 14% over the last two weeks. Analysts note that while the upcoming technical changes may drive interest, rising Treasury yields create a challenging environment that could impact price volatility.
