Ethereum has climbed to the 61st position in the global ranking of assets by market capitalization. This recovery follows a period earlier in 2026 when the asset hovered near the 100th spot. By mid-September, the market cap of Ethereum surpassed $300 billion, with prices trading between $2,500 and $2,600.
The asset's performance in 2026 has been volatile. On January 31, Ethereum reached a peak of 56th place with a market cap of approximately $305 billion, before a 14.43% weekly decline. In late June, its valuation dropped to between $192 billion and $197 billion, putting it on par with companies like Shell and SoftBank.
The circulating supply of Ethereum increased from approximately 120.68 million tokens in early July 2026 to around 122 million by September. During this period, Bitcoin maintained a global ranking of approximately 15th. Ethereum first entered the top 100 global assets in January 2021, starting at 97th place with a market cap of around $132 billion.
Market analysts attribute the recent price movement to macroeconomic factors, specifically U.S. inflation data and changes in risk sentiment, rather than internal network upgrades or events. The current market conditions suggest that the mid-50s to low-60s range in the global rankings acts as a recurring zone for Ethereum.
