Ethereum core developers have postponed the implementation of the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet. The decision follows identified security risks related to eight smart contract invariants associated with EIP-8037 and EIP-8038.
The Ethereum Foundation stated that these proposals alter gas pricing for specific operations. This change could invalidate existing projects that depend on fixed gas-related assumptions, particularly when external calls fail.
The move follows an October 13 report from ChainSecurity, which highlighted potential vulnerabilities in smart contracts. The Hoodi fork will remain on hold until developers address these concerns and determine if further modifications are necessary.
Previously, the Glamsterdam upgrade was deployed on the Sepolia testnet on October 6. The upgrade is designed to support the layer-1 scaling roadmap, introducing features like enshrined proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists.
