Margin traders on the Bitfinex exchange have increased their long positions on Ethereum to approximately 283,410 ETH as of October 11, 2026. This volume represents a value of roughly $709 million and marks the highest level of bullish bets on the platform in over four years.
The growth in long positions has been rapid, surging 157% over a seven-day period. This figure remains slightly below the 90-day peak of 283,598 ETH recorded on October 8, 2026. In late August, long positions on the exchange were significantly lower, sitting at approximately 82,500 ETH.
Conversely, short positions against Ethereum have decreased to about 3,530 ETH, valued at approximately $8.8 million. This shift has resulted in a long-to-short ratio of roughly 80 to 1. For comparison, in late September 2026, short positions had reached a four-year high between 73,000 and 101,000 ETH.
The accumulation of long positions occurred while Ethereum traded near the $2,500 level. Market observers note that the current market imbalance, characterized by a dominance of long positions, may increase the risk of a long squeeze if price declines trigger forced selling.
