The Ethereum Foundation’s App Enablement team is gathering feedback from protocol teams regarding Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) and Layer 1 constraints. This initiative aims to align the core protocol roadmap with the practical requirements of application developers as the network prepares for the Hegotá upgrade, which is scheduled for 2027.

On September 7, 2026, the EF Protocol Cluster released a tier list evaluating 62 EIPs for the upcoming upgrade. The assessment involved 60 researchers and engineers from nine teams, resulting in 397 individual grades. Two proposals, EIP-7805 (FOCIL) and EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions), achieved S-tier status, marking them as essential components for the Hegotá release.

The evaluation process categorized 15 proposals into A-tier, while seven were placed in C-tier and two remain under review. Additionally, 28 proposals were rejected, with the Protocol Cluster providing formal documentation for each decision. The deadline for client-team preference submissions was September 10, 2026, followed by a public Reddit AMA held on September 16, 2026.
