EssilorLuxottica has introduced the Nuance Audio Plus, a new version of its glasses that function as FDA-cleared over-the-counter hearing aids. The updated model features improved sound amplification, enhanced voice clarity, and additional physical controls on the frame, including a power slider and volume buttons.

The device offers up to 10 hours of battery life. Users can manage audio settings through a mobile app, choosing between Frontal mode for face-to-face conversations or All-Around mode for ambient sound. The app also provides four pre-configured amplification settings and three levels of background noise reduction.

The glasses are available in the US in three frame styles—Square, Pathos, and Upturn—and five colors. Pricing for the Plus model starts at $829, with additional costs for prescription lenses. The standard Nuance Audio model remains available for purchase, starting at $699.

New functionality allows users to answer incoming voice calls directly through the glasses, though this feature is currently exclusive to iPhone users and is not supported on Android devices. Folding the temple arms puts the device into sleep mode to conserve power, while unfolding them powers the unit back on.
