EssilorLuxottica has introduced the Nuance Audio Plus smart glasses, which function as over-the-counter hearing aids. The device integrates FDA-certified hearing technology directly into the temples, maintaining a design similar to standard eyewear.

The new model features improved sound gain and enhanced vocal clarity compared to the previous version. It includes physical buttons for power and volume control, and the battery life extends up to 10 hours. The glasses automatically enter sleep mode when folded.

The product is available in three frame styles—Square, Pathos, and Upturn—with five color options. The starting price is $829, while the original Nuance Audio model remains on sale for $699. Custom prescription lenses are available for an additional cost.

Users can manage audio settings via a mobile app, which offers two pickup modes: Frontal for face-to-face conversations and general amplification. The app provides four preset gain schemes and three levels of noise reduction to adjust background sound.

The glasses support direct call answering when paired with an iPhone, a feature currently unavailable for Android devices. The device quickly wakes up from sleep mode as soon as the temples are unfolded for use.
