Entergy Mississippi has issued a warning to Amazon Web Services regarding the potential disconnection of its data centers located in the Jackson area. The utility provider cited grid capacity constraints as the primary reason for this measure, which would be implemented during periods of peak electricity demand.
In response to the notification from Entergy, Amazon Web Services has begun modifying its power infrastructure. These adjustments are designed to enable the automatic switching of data center operations to backup power generation systems when grid capacity is insufficient.
The situation reflects broader challenges in managing energy supplies as data center infrastructure continues to expand. Industry observers are now monitoring potential regulatory developments in Texas and Louisiana, where similar grid concerns have sparked discussions regarding possible moratoriums on new data center projects.
