Over 60% of the semiconductor manufacturing equipment at the Element holding group was produced before 2000, with 43% dating back to before 1990. These figures were disclosed by Yulia Sukhoroslova, CEO of Nanotronica, during the Microelectronics 2026 forum.

The company reports that 15% of its machinery was manufactured between 1990 and 1999, while equipment from 2000 to 2004 accounts for 5%. Installations from 2005 to 2009 make up 2%, 2010 to 2019 represent 5%, and equipment from 2020 or later constitutes 4%.

Element notes that age does not dictate technical condition, as many units have undergone modernization. Newer equipment is primarily used for 200mm wafers, while older lines for 60–100mm wafers remain in operation as modern equivalents are not mass-produced.

Government procurement contracts for R&D and specialized semiconductor equipment dropped from 12 ₽ billion in 2025 to 8 ₽ billion in 2026. Equipment supply costs for the same periods were 2.6 ₽ billion and 2.5 ₽ billion, respectively.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade estimates that domestic production of equipment for the electronics industry may grow by nearly 5% in 2026, reaching 5.58 ₽ billion. Previous production volumes were 5.32 ₽ billion in 2025 and 4.93 ₽ billion in 2024.
