Swedish logistics firm Einride is expanding its partnership with Nvidia to develop autonomous electric trucks. The company will now utilize the Nvidia Hyperion platform, which provides a comprehensive architecture for Level 4 autonomy, including computing hardware, sensor technology, and safety systems.
Einride retains full control over its proprietary Einride Driver technology, handling safety validation and regulatory approvals. Nvidia supplies the underlying AI development tools and computing infrastructure, specifically leveraging the Nvidia Cosmos and Blackwell systems to accelerate the deployment of autonomous freight solutions.
Currently, Einride operates hundreds of electric trucks across the USA, Europe, and the Middle East. The company projects its fleet will grow to between 1,500 and 2,000 vehicles by 2028. To support this expansion, Einride has placed an order for 500 Tesla Semi trucks.
The firm is testing its autonomous prototypes in Germany, including a 400-metre route near Kassel in partnership with Lidl. Einride estimates that approximately 80 per cent of its customer demand is suitable for automation in the medium term, aiming to lower costs per shipment through its digital platform, Einride Saga AI.
