Swedish startup Einride has deployed two autonomous, cabless Level 4 electric trucks in Marysville, Ohio. The vehicles have been operating since September 2026, performing daily freight hauls between warehouses in partnership with the logistics firm EASE Logistics.
The deployment is part of the Truck Automation Corridor, a multi-year project involving transportation departments in Ohio and Indiana. The corridor spans 166 miles along Interstate 70, connecting Columbus and Indianapolis to test automation technology in varied weather conditions.
Einride has a history of autonomous freight projects in the US, including a 2021 deployment at GE headquarters in Kentucky. In 2022, GE ordered a fleet of Einride trucks with a 200-mile range per charge, projected to cover 125 000 miles annually.
In 2024, Einride opened the Lynwood Smartcharger Station in California in partnership with Voltera. The facility features 65 chargers capable of servicing 200 vehicles per day near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Separately, Tesla has begun installing Megacharger stations for its Semi electric trucks at Pilot travel centers. These installations aim to support the growing infrastructure for heavy-duty electric freight transport in the United States.
