Institutional crypto exchange EDX Markets has partnered with VerifiedX to introduce spot trading for Verified Bitcoin (vBTC) on its US platform. The asset is a tokenized version of Bitcoin built on a layer-2 protocol, backed one-to-one by native Bitcoin held in self-custodial addresses.
Beyond listing the token, EDX Markets will serve as a validator on the VerifiedX network. This role involves confirming transactions and participating in platform governance. The partnership aims to facilitate institutional activities such as liquidity provision, treasury management, and lending.
EDX Markets, founded in 2022, is supported by Citadel Securities, Virtu Financial, and Fidelity Digital Assets. The exchange utilizes a model of centralized clearing and non-custodial settlement to avoid holding customer assets directly.
The agreement follows a $15 million financing round secured by VerifiedX in September 2026. VerifiedX also maintains custody arrangements with BitGo, allowing investors to redeem vBTC for native Bitcoin.
