VerifiedX, a programmable layer for crypto assets, and the Chicago-based digital asset firm EDX Markets have entered a strategic partnership. The collaboration aims to introduce Verified Bitcoin (vBTC), a tokenized version of Bitcoin, to the EDX institutional spot trading platform.
vBTC is a one-to-one backed asset built on a layer-two protocol. The technology allows for on-chain verification of the underlying Bitcoin, which is designed to improve utility for payments, lending, treasury management, and other financial applications without pooling funds.
As part of the agreement, EDX Markets will join the VerifiedX network as a validator. This role grants the firm direct participation in network governance and signing processes, effectively integrating institutional trading infrastructure with the network layer supporting the asset.
The partnership provides institutional investors with a venue for trading vBTC that utilizes aggregated liquidity and central clearing. According to the companies, this structure enables participants to deploy and move capital across financial environments while maintaining ownership characteristics.
