A Bitcoin address, inactive since July 30, 2010, transferred 100.02 BTC on October 7, 2026. The transaction ended a period of dormancy for these specific mining rewards, which were originally valued at approximately $6.

At the time of the transfer, with the Bitcoin price near $82,500, the total value of the moved assets reached roughly $8.5 million. Galaxy Research identified the movement and tracked the funds across the blockchain.

The owner combined the original mining rewards with smaller subsequent deposits before splitting the total balance into two new wallets. One address received 10 BTC, while the other received approximately 90.02 BTC.

Following the transfer, both new addresses remained inactive, with no funds moved to exchanges. Although the address was active in 2015, 2017, and 2018 for other transactions, the 2010 mining rewards remained untouched until now.

Analysts note that there is no evidence linking the address to Satoshi Nakamoto. The movement is considered part of a broader trend of increased activity from long-dormant Bitcoin wallets observed throughout 2026.
