British delivery company DPD is expanding its electric vehicle fleet with the addition of 341 new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans. These vehicles are expected to enter service by the end of October, ahead of the company's peak Christmas delivery season.
This latest procurement brings the total number of electric vehicles in DPD UK's fleet to 4,000 units. The new vans will be covered by the Mercedes-Benz CompleteCare program, which provides comprehensive repair and maintenance services for the fleet.
DPD has been integrating electric vehicles into its last-mile delivery operations since 2018. In 2025, the company reported delivering over 85 million parcels using its electric fleet, which currently covers more than 7,300 postcodes across the United Kingdom.
According to Olly Craughan, Head of Sustainability at DPD UK, the new eSprinters offer payload capacities comparable to 3.5-ton diesel models. Improved battery technology and extended range allow the company to deploy larger electric vehicles from more depots to serve wider areas.
