DPD UK is expanding its electric delivery fleet with an order for 341 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vans. The vehicles will be supplied by the commercial dealer eStar, which operates six locations across north-west England and North Wales. The first units are scheduled to enter service in September, with the entire batch expected to be operational by the end of October.

The acquisition is part of a broader fleet agreement that emphasizes long-term service and maintenance. DPD currently operates electric vehicles in over 7,300 UK postal code areas. The new eSprinter vans are intended for use both within London’s M25 orbital motorway and across other regions of the country, supported by the increased range of the new models.

In the UK, the eSprinter is available with power outputs of 100 or 150 kW and battery capacities of 81 or 113 kWh. Due to local regulations allowing electric vans to weigh up to 4.25 tonnes for standard car license holders, the eSprinter maintains a payload capacity comparable to 3.5-tonne diesel vans. DPD has not specified the exact configuration of the ordered vehicles.

DPD began electrifying its British fleet in 2018. Previous major fleet expansions included 750 Maxus transporters in 2021 and 1,000 Ford E-Transit vans in 2022. By summer 2024, the company reported nearly 4,000 electric vehicles. With the addition of the 341 new Mercedes vans, the total fleet size is expected to exceed the 4,000-vehicle threshold.
