A Bitcoin wallet that has been inactive since March 2020 recently transferred its entire balance of 4,581.94 BTC. The transaction, valued at approximately $377 million, occurred on October 12 and was confirmed in block 971,126.
The funds were distributed across five new addresses: four received 1,000 BTC each, and the fifth received 581.94 BTC. The transaction fee amounted to 732 satoshis, or roughly $0.60. As of October 13, the assets remained unmoved in the new wallets.
The wallet originally acquired the coins on March 3, 2020, when the value of the holding was approximately $40.5 million. Over the years, the address experienced significant fluctuations in value due to various market events, including the COVID-19 crisis and the collapse of major platforms like FTX.
Despite market volatility, the holder achieved nearly 10 times the net gain since the initial acquisition. The address also received 22 small deposits of dust between August 2020 and May 2026, including one instance of address poisoning in January 2025.
