Dongfeng Motor has officially unveiled the Mengshi Meng 8 off-road camper at the 21st Alashan Hero Festival, marking the start of global pre-orders. The vehicle is built on the MS600 single-row military platform, integrating technology developed for the third-generation Mengshi military vehicles into a civilian model.
The camper is powered by a 6.7L electronically controlled turbocharged diesel engine, delivering a peak torque of 1050 N·m. It features a full-time four-wheel-drive system and double-wishbone independent suspension. The vehicle can climb 31-degree slopes, cross 0.7-meter-wide trenches, and maintain stability on 28-degree side slopes. It is designed to start in temperatures as low as -41 degrees Celsius.
To improve ride comfort, the Meng 8 utilizes a three-point floating connection design. The chassis includes a 210L fuel tank capacity and multiple storage compartments. The interior layout features a bed for two, a dining area with an electric lift table that converts into a second bed, and a full suite of kitchen, laundry, and bathroom facilities.
The vehicle is equipped with a 210L insulated freshwater tank with a filter, a freeze-protected greywater tank, and a 440W solar panel system on the roof. Power is managed through a three-way supply system utilizing driving, solar, and grid energy. Additionally, the camper includes a built-in drone hangar, a standard oxygen generator for high-altitude travel, and remote control capabilities via a mobile app.
