Dongfeng Motor plans to unveil its proprietary 350 Wh/kg solid-liquid hybrid battery in October 2026. The company intends to start installing these units in mass-produced vehicles during the fourth quarter of 2026. This battery offers a driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers on a single charge.
The battery has demonstrated performance in thermal and cold-weather tests, including surviving a 170°C thermal chamber test and retaining over 72% energy capacity at -30°C. Dongfeng completed winter vehicle testing in January, covering routes from Wuhan to Mohe under temperatures as low as -40°C.
The company operates a 0.2 GWh pilot production line established in June 2025. Dongfeng aims to deploy 100 demonstration vehicles by the end of 2026 and plans to deliver 50,000 vehicles equipped with its in-house solid-state batteries in 2027.
Long-term development goals include small-scale production of all-solid-state batteries by 2030 and large-scale adoption by 2035. The company is also researching sulfide-based batteries with an energy density of 500 Wh/kg.
