Dongfeng Nissan, a joint venture between Nissan Motor and its Chinese partner, plans to release an updated version of the N7 electric sedan on September 22. The company aims to boost interest in the model following a significant decline in retail sales, which dropped to 928 units in August 2026 from a peak of 10,148 units in August 2025.

The original N7, launched in April 2025, was built on the proprietary Tianyan architecture and featured an assisted driving system developed with Momenta. The vehicle includes an AI-powered cockpit utilizing DeepSeek-R1 models. At launch, the sedan offered nine variants with prices ranging from ¥119,900 to ¥158,900, featuring motor options of 160 kW and 200 kW.

The N series has expanded rapidly since the introduction of the N7. The lineup now includes the N6 plug-in hybrid, the NX8 extended-range electric vehicle, and the upcoming NX7 plug-in hybrid SUV. The company reported that cumulative production for the entire N series reached 100,000 units by June 2026, roughly 14 months after the initial N7 release.
