Dongfeng has registered a new battery-swapping version of its eπ EP7 mid-to-large sedan in the latest MIIT catalogue. The vehicle features a 215 kW electric motor produced by Zhixin Technology, a subsidiary of the Dongfeng Group.

The sedan measures 4,910 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,478 mm in height, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase. Its curb weight is 1,851 kg. The model utilizes a lithium iron phosphate battery pack supplied by CATL that supports swapping technology.

Alongside the swappable variant, Dongfeng registered a version with a non-swappable battery using in-house ternary lithium cells. The company joins other major state-owned manufacturers, including FAW, Changan, SAIC, GAC, and BAIC, in adopting CATL’s Choco-SEB system.

CATL currently operates over 2,000 battery-swapping stations for passenger vehicles across China. The company aims to increase this network to 3,000 stations by the end of the year to support the growing ecosystem of swappable electric vehicles.
