The team behind the MyDoge wallet has launched a public testnet for DogeOS, an EVM-compatible zero-knowledge rollup designed to bring smart contract functionality to the Dogecoin network. The testnet, named Chikyū, operates on chain ID 6281971 and went live on September 30, 2026.

DogeOS aims to process approximately 300 transactions per second with block times of about 3 seconds. This represents a significant increase compared to the Dogecoin base layer, which currently handles around 30 transactions per second with block times of roughly one minute.

The project secured $6.9 million in a seed funding round in May 2025, led by Polychain Capital. The initiative has received support from Timothy Stebbing of the Dogecoin Foundation, who views the layer as a way to expand utility without modifying the base ledger.

DogeOS utilizes DOGE for gas fees. While the platform currently relies on a permissioned sequencer and validator signatures, the team is awaiting the implementation of the OP_CHECKZKP proposal, submitted on July 22, 2025, to enable native proof verification on Dogecoin.

Several projects are already testing on the network, including Superposition Finance for lending, Barkswap for liquidity, and USDoge for stablecoins. No official timeline for a mainnet launch has been disclosed by the developers.
