Modder danielblnc has released a tool called DLSS-NR for AMD, enabling Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs based on the RDNA 4 architecture to run Nvidia's DLSS 5 neural rendering technology in supported titles.
The installation requires placing a small installer and the nvngx_dlssnr.dll file from Nvidia into the game's bin folder. Users switch to neural rendering via FSR 3 or FSR 4 profiles. The mod is currently compatible only with single-player games, as anti-cheat systems block the necessary DLL file.
Initial tests by YouTuber Ancient Gameplays in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p on a Radeon RX 9070 XT showed a severe performance drop, falling from over 80 FPS to approximately 11–12 FPS. The latest DLSS-NR Alpha v0.2.7 update improved this to 30 FPS, though it remains significantly lower than native rendering.
The port is possible because both the RDNA 4 architecture and Nvidia's RTX 40 and 50 series support the FP8 computation format used by DLSS 5. While Nvidia officially supports DLSS 5 on Blackwell (RTX 50 series) and plans to bring it to the RTX 40 series, modders have already ported it to RTX 20 and 30 series cards with significant performance losses.
