Deutsche Bank plans to launch a bitcoin custody service for institutional and corporate clients in Europe before the end of the year. The rollout depends on meeting all necessary regulatory requirements and timelines.
The bank intends to support a broader range of digital assets beyond bitcoin, including stablecoins and tokenized financial instruments. The list of supported assets may grow based on client demand and internal risk management protocols.
The project involves integrating custody infrastructure from Bitpanda and collaborating with Taurus to develop the technical solution. Reports regarding the bank's work on this service first appeared in 2025.
This initiative follows similar moves by other major financial institutions. Over the past 18 months, firms including BNY Mellon, State Street, Standard Chartered, U.S. Bank, and Citigroup have launched or committed to crypto custody services.
