Decibel Trade, an exchange incubated by Aptos Labs, implemented the Encrypted Mempool feature on October 21, 2026. This tool allows users to encrypt order details on their devices before submission to the blockchain, aiming to prevent frontrunning and sandwich attacks.

The functionality relies on governance proposal AIP-144, approved on October 12, 2026, which introduced batch threshold encryption to the Aptos network. Decryption keys are distributed among validators, ensuring that no single entity can access pending order data prematurely.

While the system hides trade inputs and function calls, sender addresses and gas fees remain visible. Technical testing shows that the encryption adds approximately 20–27 ms of latency, representing a 14% overhead on transaction times, while supporting over 1,000 transactions per second.

Decibel Trade launched on mainnet in February 2026. As of mid-October 2026, the platform recorded a cumulative trading volume exceeding $8.2 billion, with $1.3 billion generated in the 30 days prior to the announcement.
