Paris-based cloud infrastructure startup Cycloid has secured a role as a pre-approved software supplier for the European Commission. The company will provide a unified interface for managing services within the Commission's €180 million sovereign cloud framework, which was launched on 17 April 2026. This six-year initiative allows EU institutions to access cloud services from four European provider groups.
Cycloid, founded in 2015 by Benjamin Brial, offers a platform that centralizes access to infrastructure, automation, and developer tools. The software enables organizations to maintain security and cost governance while working across public, private, and sovereign cloud environments. The Commission previously replaced its internal portal with Cycloid’s solution approximately one year ago.
The new agreement allows other EU public institutions to procure Cycloid’s technology through the Commission’s DIGIT software broker under pre-negotiated terms. This development follows the company’s €5 million Series A funding round in February 2025, led by Reflexion Capital, which brought its total raised capital to €8 million. The startup is currently focused on European and North American expansion.
The European Commission’s framework aims to diversify cloud suppliers and reduce dependence on single providers. Cycloid’s platform supports this strategy by allowing teams to manage workloads across various European providers and on-premise systems. The company also maintains a strategic partnership with the DACH-based provider cloudXcelerate to facilitate cloud migration for businesses.
