Cyclic Materials has launched its first commercial-scale recycling facility in Mesa, Arizona. The plant is designed to process up to 25,000 metric tons of end-of-life products containing magnets annually, extracting rare earth magnet material, copper, aluminum, and steel.
The facility utilizes the MagCycle process, which performs automated mechanical separation of magnets. This technology is the initial stage of a recovery platform that integrates magnet separation with rare earth refining and metallization, targeting materials used in EV traction motors.
The company has already secured over 7,000 metric tons of magnet-bearing material through long-term supply agreements. The first shipments of recovered materials to customers in the United States are scheduled to begin in September 2026.
Construction of the Mesa site was completed 17 months after the initial announcement. Cyclic Materials is also developing a rare earth recycling campus in South Carolina, which will consolidate the company's recovery and refining operations at a single location.
