A massive cyberattack targeted connected refrigeration systems across hundreds of French supermarkets, causing temperatures to rise to 50 °C. The incident resulted in equipment fires and the loss of perishable food inventory nationwide.

Les Mousquetaires reported that 150 of its Intermarché stores were affected, with temperatures remaining elevated for six hours. Carrefour confirmed that 80 of its 6,000 locations suffered similar issues. Other retailers, including Cooperative U, Monoprix, E.Leclerc, and Auchan, were also impacted.

The French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) identified a vulnerability in software provided by the Danish company Danfoss. Danfoss stated that the affected systems were running outdated software that required updates.

Separately, the Dutch operator Ahold Delhaize reported a security incident that disrupted its systems and halted food delivery services. Authorities are currently investigating whether this event is linked to the attacks in France.
