Chinese semiconductor manufacturer CXMT has officially commenced mass production of its fifth-generation DRAM memory chips. The company aims to strengthen its position in the global market, competing directly with established industry leaders such as Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron.
The new manufacturing platform utilizes a self-aligned quadruple patterning lithography technique, which reduces the distance between key data storage elements to 11.95 nm. This advancement allows for higher memory density on a single chip and increases the total number of chips produced per silicon wafer.
CXMT has introduced two 24-gigabit LPDDR5X memory chips designed for smartphones and portable electronics. These new products offer a 50 percent increase in data storage capacity compared to the company's previous generation solutions.
According to the manufacturer, the new platform improves production efficiency by increasing the yield of chip precursors from a single silicon wafer by at least 50 percent compared to the fourth-generation technology. The company recently completed an IPO on the Shanghai STAR Market.
