Brazil’s central securities depository, CSD BR, has entered a partnership with Ripple to mirror ownership data of securities on the XRP Ledger. The organization currently manages assets valued at more than BRL 22 trillion.

The initial phase of the project involves recording investment fund shares from BTG Pactual, a major Latin American investment bank. CSD BR remains the official source of record for all registrations and settlements, ensuring that existing legal frameworks and investor processes remain unchanged.

The integration utilizes the XRPL Multi-Purpose Token standard, while Ripple Custody provides the security layer for private keys and access controls. The project operates under the supervision of the Brazilian securities regulator CVM and the central bank BCB without requiring new regulatory approvals.

Future stages of the roadmap may include native asset issuance on the XRP Ledger and peer-to-peer trading. Potential asset classes for expansion include real estate and agribusiness receivables certificates, known as CRIs and CRAs.
