CScale Inc. has officially launched, securing $188 million in funding. The capital includes a recently closed Series C round co-led by Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, and Premji Invest, with additional participation from Nvidia Corp. and Intel Capital.
Founded in 2023 by Sanjai Kohli, the startup is led by CEO Martin Lund. The company specializes in optical interconnect technology designed to link accelerators within large-scale artificial intelligence clusters. Its hardware aims to improve performance by enabling faster data movement compared to traditional copper wiring.
The technology supports the connection of thousands of accelerators across multiple server racks. CScale claims its system can contain link failures to maintain cluster uptime. The startup plans to deliver its solution as an integrated light engine within a system-on-chip that includes an onboard CPU.
The newly raised funds are earmarked for further technological development and the acceleration of commercialization efforts. Investors highlight the importance of reliable optics as AI infrastructure moves toward gigawatt-class deployments.
