Crayford Automobiles has introduced the Mojito, a hand-built beach car based on the classic Mini. The coachbuilder removes the door skins, rear glass, and lower body panels to create an open-sided vehicle. The design retains the original fixed roof and includes a folding Webasto-style sunroof. The interior features marine-grade upholstery and non-slip Flexiteek flooring to withstand coastal environments.
The Mojito retains the original Mini engine, which has been retuned for improved low-end torque. Technical specifications include a 998 cc engine producing 40 horsepower and a curb weight of approximately 650 kilograms. The car is equipped with manual transmission and front disc brakes based on the Mini Cooper specification. Each build is handled on a case-by-case basis without a formal options list.
Pricing for the entry-level Mojito starts at £35 000, which is approximately $46 200. Crayford plans for small-number production, though no fixed manufacturing cap has been announced. Buyers can choose from four paint options: White Sand, Beach Yellow, Surf Blue, or a custom finish. The company manages all orders directly and delivers the fully converted vehicles to customers.
The vehicle is intended for short coastal trips rather than daily commuting or long-distance highway travel. Because the Mojito is based on a classic Mini, UK-market cars may qualify for historic vehicle status regarding taxes and inspections. International buyers are responsible for verifying local import and registration regulations for classic cars before finalizing their purchase.
