Cosmonauts Dmitry Petelin and Konstantin Borisov completed a complex emergency simulation aboard a Soyuz spacecraft. The training exercise required the crew to manage multiple simultaneous failures, including a malfunction of the onboard computer system and a fire outbreak during the undocking procedure from the International Space Station.
The crew transitioned to manual control after the simulated computer failure rendered automated systems unavailable. While maintaining flight parameters, the cosmonauts performed fire suppression procedures. Following the established onboard protocols, the team proceeded to depressurize the descent module to initiate an emergency return to Earth.
The Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center emphasized that the primary challenge of this simulation was the concurrency of multiple failures. The crew had to identify and address each issue while simultaneously managing the spacecraft's movement relative to the station. Both participants successfully executed the required operations.
