A high-end Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro X laptop, equipped with an AMD Ryzen processor and NVIDIA RTX graphics, experienced a black screen failure. Lenovo's official service center proposed replacing the entire motherboard, quoting a repair cost of over $800 (approximately £600).

The owner sought a second opinion from the 'Electronics Repair School' hardware repair channel. After disassembling the device and inspecting the circuits, the expert found that the core chips and power modules were intact, and the issue was caused by a single damaged micro-capacitor blocking the power line.

Instead of replacing the capacitor, the technician used a short piece of copper wire to bridge the circuit. This unconventional physical repair restored the screen and full system functionality. The expert noted that bridging the circuit was more reliable than replacing the capacitor, as the original design might have potential flaws that could lead to future failures.
