Coolpad has unveiled a new Android smartphone featuring a 16:9 aspect ratio display. The device is priced at ¥999, which is approximately $150. The announcement was made via the company's official account on the Chinese social platform Xiaohongshu.
The smartphone includes a 6.3-inch flat screen. Images show that the bottom bezel is thicker than the others, suggesting the use of an LCD panel rather than OLED, though the manufacturer has not yet provided official technical specifications.
The company has confirmed that the device will be released soon. If the launch proceeds as planned, this model will be one of the first Android smartphones to offer this specific display format in the budget segment.
For context, the Huawei Pura X View, released in September, features a 6.39-inch OLED display with a 16:9.5 aspect ratio and a starting price of ¥5999. Industry insiders previously suggested that several manufacturers, including Oppo and Honor, are working on similar wide-format devices.
