Buildozer is a tool for compiling Python code into Android APK files. It supports the arm64-v8a (64-bit) and armeabi-v7a (32-bit) architectures. The tool works with Python 3.11, but the is not compatible with versions 3.12 and above due to library porting issues.
The system utilizes three main components: a home directory folder (~/.buildozer), a local project folder (./.buildozer), and a configuration file (buildozer.spec). The home folder stores the Android SDK and NDK, while the spec file contains the necessary build settings.
To successfully compile an application, the configuration file must specify the python_version as 3.11 and include requirements such as kivy, pyjnius, requests, certifi, chardet, filetype, idna, six, and urllib3. The Kivy library is used for graphics output.
The build process involves initializing Buildozer with the 'buildozer init' command and running the compilation via 'buildozer android debug'. The initial compilation typically takes around 20 minutes, during which the user must accept the Android SDK and NDK policies.
