Comodule's new Astra module is designed for direct integration into e-bikes, providing manufacturers with a set of connected features. These include live location tracking, smart locking, and electronic immobilization of the vehicle.

The device's standout feature is its power management, which allows e-bikes to remain trackable for up to 12 months, even during long storage periods. While the module typically draws power from the bike's electrical system, its efficiency ensures long-term security tracking.

To improve accuracy in dense urban areas or indoors, Astra uses a combination of conventional satellite positioning and Wi-Fi Locate technology. The system also utilizes Cat-1bis cellular connectivity to maintain reliable connections in remote locations and indoor environments.

The hardware is smaller and more power-efficient than previous versions, featuring CAN connectivity for communication with the drive system. Manufacturers can implement the module using Comodule's branded app and platform or integrate it into their own software via API and SDK tools.

The Estonia-based company has connected more than 850,000 light electric vehicles, including e-bikes and e-scooters, over the last 11 years. Comodule is currently offering demonstrations of the Astra module to manufacturers developing 2028 model year e-bikes.
