Coinbase has submitted a filing to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to introduce perpetual futures contracts for individual US stocks. The company aims to provide traders with 24/5 market exposure without requiring ownership of the underlying equities.

The proposed derivatives product would expand the existing perpetual futures framework beyond crypto assets. Unlike traditional futures, these contracts do not have an expiration date. The initiative is currently awaiting regulatory approval from the CFTC.

According to reports, the initial offering will likely include 50 to 60 stocks, featuring major companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and Nvidia. Coinbase Derivatives is managing the process to bring these instruments to the US market.

This move follows a filing submitted by Coinbase Derivatives to the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 1. The company sought to register as a national securities exchange to facilitate the trading of security futures.

Coinbase already provides stock perpetual futures to international traders. The company launched this product in March, covering major US stocks and indexes. At that time, the exchange noted that the offering was not available to US residents.
