Coinbase has received approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to operate its own clearinghouse. Ryan VanGrack, a representative from Coinbase, stated that this regulatory milestone creates new opportunities for the Bitcoin market.
The company is currently focused on the proposed custody rules from the Securities and Exchange Commission. These regulations aim to simplify the process for investment advisors to manage direct Bitcoin holdings for their clients.
VanGrack noted that institutional capital prefers environments with clear regulatory frameworks. He emphasized that direct asset ownership and exchange-traded funds can coexist and grow simultaneously within the financial ecosystem.
Coinbase is also working on bringing digital asset infrastructure to community banks. Additionally, the company views tokenization as a significant technological upgrade that could reduce the reliance on traditional intermediaries in the financial sector.
