Coinbase has announced a new feature allowing users to open digital Pokémon card packs directly on their mobile devices. Each digital pack corresponds to a physical card, which users can either store in a secure vault or have shipped to their home address.

The company shared a teaser on X featuring five distinct pack designs in blue, silver, copper, gold, and black. While these colors may suggest different pricing tiers, Coinbase has not yet confirmed the cost, the official launch date, or the specific list of cards available in the collection.

Although the exchange has not explicitly named a blockchain, a response to a user comment suggests the product will include an onchain element. It remains unclear whether the project has received official licensing from The Pokémon Company or which regions will be eligible for the service.

This initiative follows a reported net loss of $359.5 million for Coinbase in the second quarter. By expanding into collectibles, the exchange aims to diversify its revenue streams beyond traditional trading fees, positioning itself as an all-encompassing platform for digital and physical assets.
