Coinbase and financial platform Moov have announced a partnership to integrate stablecoin infrastructure for over 1,000 community banks and credit unions. The collaboration combines Coinbase’s regulated digital asset services with Moov’s existing payment platform.
The new infrastructure will enable community banks to offer stablecoin payment acceptance, settlement, and real-time funding. These services are designed to support consumer payments, merchant settlements, and payouts, while providing businesses with access to Coinbase custodial accounts.
This initiative targets US community banks, which are typically defined as institutions with less than $10 billion in total assets. The group includes state-chartered institutions as well as savings and loan holding companies.
The move follows similar developments in the banking sector. Recently, U.S. Bank completed a cross-border payment using its proprietary stablecoin on the Stellar blockchain. Additionally, a group of 21 major financial institutions plans to issue stablecoins by early 2027.
