Cloudera Inc. is shifting its enterprise AI strategy to prioritize deployment flexibility. Instead of requiring companies to move proprietary data to external AI services, the platform now enables AI models to run directly within the environments where the data resides.

The company announced a new partnership with Mistral AI SAS to integrate its models into the Cloudera data platform. This collaboration aims to address the needs of European customers who prefer working with a local provider to maintain data sovereignty.

According to product director Wim Stoop, organizations are facing pressure from regulations like the European Union’s Digital Operational Resilience Act and the U.S. CLOUD Act. These mandates require companies to demonstrate strict control over their data.

Beyond regulatory compliance, Cloudera identifies the high cost of scaling AI models as a primary obstacle for enterprises. By keeping AI operations internal, the company seeks to help clients manage the expenses associated with high token generation and hardware utilization.
