Cloudera Inc. has entered into a nine-figure strategic partnership with Mistral AI SAS to provide sovereign AI capabilities for enterprises. The collaboration aims to integrate Mistral's large language models directly into Cloudera's hybrid data and AI platform, allowing companies to deploy AI in public clouds, on-premises, or hybrid environments.

The partnership focuses on solving security and compliance issues for organizations in highly regulated industries. By running AI models within Cloudera's security perimeter, enterprises can process sensitive proprietary information without sending data to external locations or relying on public APIs, which also helps control costs.

A key component of the integration is Mistral Forge, a fine-tuning platform. This tool allows companies to train Mistral's frontier models on petabytes of their own institutional data and domain expertise without the data leaving their secure environment, enabling the creation of specialized intelligence.

The collaboration also aims to improve infrastructure economics and support low-latency applications by enabling AI workloads to run at the network edge. This provides an alternative to models from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, which typically require data to be transferred to their own servers.
