Circle Foundation has announced two new partnerships with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Food Programme (WFP). The collaboration aims to integrate regulated stablecoins into humanitarian and development operations to improve payment speed, cost-efficiency, and transparency.
The UNDP will utilize a grant from the Circle Foundation to launch the Digital Asset Innovation Pool. This framework is designed to assist country offices in transitioning pilot projects into standard program delivery, offering guidance on regulatory compliance, beneficiary protection, and performance measurement tools.
Additionally, the Circle Foundation is providing a grant to World Food Program USA to support the development of stablecoin-based payment infrastructure. This project focuses on building systems for governance, risk management, treasury operations, and compliance, while integrating local fintech and mobile money services.
The WFP intends to conduct tests across two to three country corridors over a three-year period. These trials will serve to evaluate the resilience and efficiency of stablecoin payments, with the findings expected to inform future humanitarian operations across the sector.
