On September 15, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) granted conditional Batch Zero classifications for 3.2 GW of power capacity across Cipher Digital's proposed projects. This total includes 1.1 GW of Conditional Base Load and 2.1 GW of Conditional Studied Load.
The Base Load designation covers 100 MW at the Stingray site and 1 GW at Colchis. The Studied Load category spans four locations: Mikeska (500 MW), Apollo (900 MW), Stingray Phase II (200 MW), and McLennan (500 MW).
Cipher secured Partial Capacity Load Requirement (PCLR) status for 1.4 GW across the Mikeska and Apollo sites. This allows the company to utilize full load capacity before transmission infrastructure is completed, provided it accepts the risk of power curtailment during grid stress.
The company currently operates 807 MW of energized infrastructure across three Texas sites: Barber Lake (300 MW), Black Pearl (300 MW), and Odessa (207 MW). Additionally, 270 MW has received full interconnection approval at the Reveille and Ulysses projects.
Cipher is developing on-site natural-gas generation capacity of up to 2.5 GW to support its facilities. The final designations for the conditional classifications are expected following a comprehensive audit scheduled for December 2026.
