Three Chinese EV models, the Aion UT, Geely E2 (Xingyuan in China, EX2 in other markets), and Leapmotor B05 (Lafa 5 in China), have earned the maximum five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. These results were released on September 3, 2026, based on the new 2026 assessment protocols.
The testing round also included the Cupra Raval, which received a four-star rating with standard equipment. However, the vehicle achieved a five-star rating when equipped with the optional Safety Pack, which improves active technologies for low-speed driving and junction scenarios.
Euro NCAP reported that Chinese-manufactured vehicles now represent 7% of all new car sales in the European Union and nearly 10% in the UK. The number of Chinese models submitted for safety testing has increased nearly tenfold since 2021, reflecting a manufacturer effort to meet European safety standards.
